Permanent Dock Construction in Northville, Michigan

What’s up, guys? The Dockman here, back with another custom dock build—this time in Northville, Michigan, for a private community looking for a permanent dock that stands the test of time. We took on the challenge and delivered a solid, long-lasting structure that blends durability with a clean, custom look. Let’s break it down.

Built to Last: Helical Pier Foundation

For this project, we installed the entire dock using helical piers. If you’ve seen some of my previous videos, you know these are a game-changer. Helical piers work like a giant screw, spiraling deep into the ground to create a sturdy and reliable foundation. This method ensures the dock stays secure for years to come, even through Michigan’s harsh weather conditions.

High-Quality Materials & Custom Design

This dock features an all-wood frame for classic strength and durability. We’re decking it out with TREX Transcend composite decking, a top-tier material known for its weather resistance and low maintenance. To complete the build, we’ll be installing a custom TREX railing system all around the dock. The exact color and style are still being decided, but we’ll be back in a few weeks to finish it off and show you the final look.

A Unique Build for Water’s Edge

This setup was a little different from what Water’s Edge typically does, but that wasn’t a problem. We worked closely with engineers and the local community to make sure everything was up to spec and executed flawlessly. The result? Another beautiful, custom permanent dock installation that will serve this community for years to come.
